Mr. Turkelson has prosecuted and defended nearly every conceivable criminal law violation in numerous counties throughout the state of Michigan. Mr. Turkelson’s trial experiences include appearances before numerous Circuit Courts, District Courts, and various Probate Courts throughout the state. Mr. Turkelson was recognized as the “Prosecutor of the year” by the International Association of Arson Investigators, Michigan Chapter in 2003. In addition, Mr. Turkelson was honored as “Victim Advocate of the Year” in 2005. Since leaving the prosecuting attorney’s office, Mr. Turkelson has successfully defended clients accused of criminal law violations throughout the State of Michigan, from clients accused of capital crimes to those accused of minor driving violations. Mr. Turkelson’s experience as a former prosecuting attorney provides his clients with the unique perspective of understanding how both sides of the system operate – all to his client’s distinct advantage. Mr. Turkelson was selected as a student advisor/court liaison for the first ever Michigan Supreme Court “Court Community Connections” accessibility and outreach program designed to educate high school students on the issues before and inner-workings of a Supreme Court argument.
Mr. Turkelson has served over the years on a number of community and charitable organizations, including: Lapeer City Fire Department, Lapeer County Sheriff’s Department Dive Team, Lapeer City Zoning Board of Appeals, and as a Lapeer City Commissioner. |
